Antiguas Sonoras
5. June 2026
description
Imagine being able to hear the sounds of an uninterrupted tradition from Mesoamerica.
Ceramic sound objects bear witness to Mexican traditions that have fallen into oblivion due to colonization. Victor Badillo revives this artisanal knowledge and combines these historically inspired instruments with contemporary, modular electronics.
During the workshop, these mostly silent objects reveal their true meaning. Together with the participants, a spontaneous piece emerges—a kind of musical, dynamic journey through time. In the process, we both imagine and explore how these soundscapes might have developed had their continuity not been interrupted. Historical techniques will be introduced, and the instruments will be tested in practice.
The workshop is part of the exhibition Antiguas Sonoras, organized by la_capsula.
workshop starts at 4pm, at park platz
Participants: Victor Badillo (MEX)
Type: Workshop & Exhibition
Curator: Desirée Hieronimus (CHE)
